Located on the Gastineau Channel of the U.S. state of Alaska, Juneau is the capital city of Alaska. Juneau covers an area larger than Rhode Island and is the only United States capital on an international border.
As the state capital, government is a major contributor to Juneau economy as much of Juneau ‘s workforce is employed by government. Tourism, fishing and forestry are also important to the local economy.

Juneau has a humid continental climate. Winters are moist, long and slightly cold. Spring, Summer and Fall are mildly cool with highs peaking in July at 18.3°C. May to September is the wonderful cruise season.
