Day 1. Arrive Siem Reap, Prek K’dam, Embark Ship
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Prek K’dam to embark your river ship for your eight-day Mekong River cruise. Tonight, get to know your fellow passengers as you enjoy an exclusive Luke Nguyen Welcome Dinner on board.

Day 2. Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Tralach, Oudong
Join a small boat excursion of the wetlands near Kampong Chhnang then rejoin the ship as you continue sailing towards Kampong Tralach. Take an exciting ox-cart ride through the countryside through rice fields and the small village of Wat Kapong Tralach Pleu past bemused locals back to your ship. You will then travel by coach to the town of Oudong, which was the royal capital of Cambodia from 1618 until 1866. While you are here, visit the monastery and perhaps take part in a Buddhist blessing experience.

Day 3. Koh Chen Village, Phnom Penh
Today you will explore the small village of Koh Chen, which specialises in silver and copperware. While here, visit home-workshops that manufacture handmade copper souvenirs and meet the local craftspeople. Later, you’ll arrive in Phnom Penh. Perhaps relax aboard your ship or enjoy leisure time to explore the Cambodian capital.

Day 4. Phnom Penh, Freedom Of Choice
After breakfast, disembark in Phnom Penh and embark on your chosen activity. Perhaps enjoy a guided tour of the dazzling white and gold Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, which is located on the south side of the palace complex and houses many national treasures. Alternatively, you may wish to discover some of Cambodia’s sobering history with a moving excursion to the infamous Killing Fields, before visiting the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, located on the site of the Khmer Rouge’s notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21). Here, you’ll learn of the atrocities inflicted upon Cambodians during Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime in the mid-to-late 1970s. Your other options are a visit to the National Museum or a guided city tour in a tuk tuk.

Day 5. Phnom Penh, Border Crossing
Cruise towards the Vietnamese border and this afternoon, perhaps attend a fruit-carving and Vietnamese spring rolls demonstration while the border crossing formalities are carried out. Later, arrive in the town of Tan Chau.

Day 6. Tan Chau, Evergreen Island
After breakfast this morning, transfer to a small boat for a journey along the tiny tributaries that snake around Tan Chau. You’ll cruise past a floating fishing farm, then disembark for an authentic rickshaw tour. Later, step back in time during a visit to a local evergreen island and see authentic rural Mekong life.

Day 7. Sa Dec, Cai Be
In the quaint city of Sa Dec, enjoy a small-boat ride past floating markets, then disembark to visit a Cao Dai temple. You’ll also enjoy a guided tour of Huynh Thuy Le’s old house and learn the story behind Marguerite Duras’ best-selling novel, The Lover. Then continue on to Cai Be. Step ashore to see its French Gothic Cathedral, then explore its colourful port area and delight in its colonial buildings and flower gardens. You’ll also visit a local rice paper manufacturer to learn how rice paper is made.

Day 8. Disembark Cruise, Depart Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
After breakfast, disembark the ship at My Tho Port and transfer to Ho Chi Minh City for your onward flight.
